Gender-affirming care as a core component of an effective HIV response

IAS – the International AIDS Society – in collaboration with the Social, Health and Empowerment Feminist Collective of Transgender Women of Africa, Botswana-UPenn Partnership, Botswana University and School of Global Health, Chulalongkorn University organized a webinar, titled “Gender-affirming care as a core component of an effective HIV response”.

This webinar explores the critical role of gender-affirming, person-centred care in HIV services, bringing together clinical, programmatic and policy perspectives. Webinar objectives:

  1. Highlight why gender-affirming care is essential for improving HIV outcomes and strengthening prevention and treatment programmes.
  2. Examine how the evolving global political landscape affects access to gender-affirming HIV services and identify opportunities for advocacy and policy engagement.
  3. Explore how to apply human rights principles in clinical practice and address stigma and discrimination, particularly for adolescents and young people.
