She is the founder and Executive director of BKF (Barbara Kemigisa Foundation), a social service community-based organization that engages children and young people 13 to 24 years living with HIV, affected and at risk of HIV and AIDS, restoring their dignity through psycho social support, advocacy for health rights as well as developing their skills to realize their dreams and full potential. BKF is committed to the personal and social development of these vulnerable children and young people, their families, and the communities they live in.

Kemigisa strongly believes that with the Foundation, she can mobilize like-minded individuals to inspire, support and mentor these young people to change their stories and make lasting impact in the communities they live in just like she did. Kemigisa’s life is one of the countless stories of resilience and inspiration, an indication that many young people can become relevant and productive if given a chance to mentorship, the right information and capacity building.
