IAS – The International AIDS Society – organized a webinar, titled “Addressing internalized stigma and understanding the importance of language in the HIV response”. It is the second in the “Shifting mindsets” webinar series on stigma. The series aims to personalize data through human stories, illustrating what research findings on stigma and discrimination mean in the real world for people living with HIV. In this webinar, the panellists focused on successful strategies to reduce the negative impact of internalized stigma and discussed the importance of stakeholders in the HIV response using respectful language to support the dignity and agency of people living with HIV.
