From distribution to linkage: Strategies to improve HIV self testing, diagnosis and care across diverse settings

Komunyena Justine Tumusiime is  a Public Health Specialist and Research Scientist with over 15 years of experience in health research, program implementation, and knowledge translation. Adept at conducting in-depth literature reviews, designing and managing research protocols, and disseminating findings across diverse platforms and audiences. Skilled in translating complex data into actionable insights through the development of interactive dashboards and data visualization tools to support evidence-based decision-making. Proven ability to collaborate with international health organizations and engage effectively with community stakeholders

Mr Lekey Khandu is a PhD candidate and sessional academic at Curtin University, and a recipient of the Australian Government Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Scholarship. His doctoral research focuses on HIV self-testing and index testing in Bhutan. Prior to this, he led Bhutan’s national HIV, STIs, and Hepatitis program under the Ministry of Health, with over 16 years of experience managing international donor-supported projects (GFATM, World Bank, WHO, UNICEF, UNAIDS). Mr Lekey is the only Bhutanese scholar to conduct extensive research on HIV and AIDS in Bhutan and has published in peer-reviewed journals. He is also engaged in public health teaching, advocacy, and health systems research.
