Revolutionizing HIV: AI, equity and the next frontier

Takura Matare is an accomplished Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist (M & E) with over 7 years of experience designing, implementing, and managing results-based M&E systems in the health sector. With a strong background in data-driven decision-making, he has supported numerous organizations in strengthening performance measurement, ensuring accountability, and enhancing program impact. He has led the development of robust M&E frameworks, conducted impact evaluations, and facilitated capacity-building initiatives within the Ministry of Health and Child Care. His work emphasizes evidence-based learning and adaptive management, helping stakeholders translate data into actionable insights. A recognized thought leader in the field, Takura Matare regularly contributes to conferences, panels, and technical working groups focused on results measurement and development effectiveness. He holds a Master of Public Health Degree from the University of Zimbabwe.

Dr. Chamithra Rupasinghe is a physician and researcher with expertise in chronic disease management and global health. Fluent in four languages, she integrates clinical care and research to advance healthcare equity, with contributions to stroke, brain injury, and public health studies.

Udunze Obioha. C

Udunze Obioha is a Public Health Researcher with background in Statistics (BSc, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo State Nigeria) and Medical Statistics, Public Health (Msc, University of Lagos, Nigeria). He has broad experience in Strategic Information systems. He has powerful skill in data analytics as evident through the development, deployment and use of interactive performance dashboards for program quality improvements.His expertise has remarkably improved monitoring, evaluation and learning of communicable diseases that are of significant public health concern which includes HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis (TB), malaria, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). 

His expertise has also facilitated the assessment of HIV/AIDS resources both  in Lagos and Rivers States of Nigeria from 2013 – 2024, providing vital information about the proportion of public, private, and external funds expended on priority HIV interventions, the beneficiaries of HIV/AIDS funds and Government matching funds with the external funds. This outcome has encouraged accountability, efficiency, and effective program implementation, and has provided decision makers with strategic information for HIV/AIDS resource mobilization.

Obioha is currently working with KNCV Nigeria as the Strategic information Lead in both South Western and South Eastern regions in Nigeria under the KNCV Nigeria Global Fund IMPACT POJECT, leading a team Strategic informaion experts on the use of Artificail Intelligence in driving and improving access to high-quality, person -centered TB, DRTB, TB/HIV, and other other comorbidities in the both regions of the country.

In this conference, he will be showcasing how Artificial Intelligence powered Mobile Digital CXR, has demonstrated efficiency in TB diagnosis particularly among PLHIV in Nigeria.

 

 

Alfred Odira is a public health researcher with over 15 years of experience driving evidence-based studies in Kenya. He has led HIV prevention and community-based research efforts with KEMRI-RCTP, IMPACT R&D Organization, AMREF, and FHI, among other organizations, contributing to impactful projects on PrEP, adolescent health, and malaria control. Skilled in mixed methods, GIS, and digital data tools, Alfred’s work informs national strategies through rigorous analysis and inclusive stakeholder engagement. He holds a BA in Urban and Regional Planning from Maseno University and multiple certifications in ethical research and M&E. Alfred’s abstracts were recently featured at the 5th HIVR4P Conference.

Rouella has over 15 years experience building scalable, innovative digital solutions across biotech, global health, and at industry leaders like Microsoft. She is the Director of Product for Artificial Intelligence Technologies at Audere, a digital health non-profit - leading strategy, innovation, implementation, and partnerships for HealthPulse AI to improve health access and outcomes in low and middle income countries. She has extensive experience delivering accessible health tech solutions and digital platforms that incorporate artificial intelligence including computer vision, machine learning, large language models, and natural language processing.
